British boxing champion James DeGale has a hair transplant at the British Hair Clinic
James DeGale has chosen to have his hair transplant at the British Hair Clinic after winning back his IBF super middleweight title from Caleb Truax.
James Degale is a two-time former super-middleweight world champion, having held the IBF title twice between 2015 and 2018. At regional level he held the European and British super-middleweight titles between 2010 and 2012.
DeGale represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics as an amateur, winning a gold medal in the middleweight division. He also won silver medals at the 2007 and 2008 EU Championships, and bronze at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. By later becoming IBF champion, he became the first British boxer ever to have won both an Olympic gold medal and a professional world title.
As of April 2018, DeGale is ranked as the world’s sixth best active super-middleweight by The Ring magazine and BoxRec, and seventh by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.
With the gold strapped back around his waist, the 2008 Olympic gold medallist decided to add something else to the look. DeGale had already held a consultation at the British Hair Clinic, based in Brentwood, Essex, and went through with the procedure after his big fight in the US.
And just as that night in Sin City proved a success, so did his date with the surgeon.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Dr Shuja Chaudhry, the surgeon at the clinic, said: “James was delighted he had made the right decision to undergo a hair transplant.
“Along with his sister he was very grateful for the excellent service they had received from consultation through to the end of the procedure. “James was particularly pleased with the attention to detail, how precise the surgeon was and how he was able to accommodate James’ questions and concerns regardless how irrelevant they may have been.
“He was an excellent patient with a great personality.
“I expect James to attain very good results following his hair transplantation procedure.”
DeGale had noticed that he was suffering hair loss for a number of years.
It began in his teens and gradually progressed over the years. He said he felt “he was going bald and he looked like an old man”.
His sister who is also his personal assistant explained how James repeatedly mention his concerns over his hair and “looking right”.
Dr Chaudhry added: “The temples and the crown regions were the main areas of concern for him along with a small section of the beard.
“It was affecting how he was feeling about himself and rather than spending time and energy worrying about his hair and how to cover the hair loss, he decided to get professional help.
“He contacted the British Hair Clinic as he had heard very good reviews and was ‘amazed at how good the results were’.”
Anybody considering having treatment for hair loss is advised to undergo a consultation to discuss their concerns and suitability for hair transplantation surgery or restoration treatments.
The British Hair Clinic offers free consultations allowing people to learn more about the various options available to them before undergoing any treatment.
